Record Check for Application (LP)
A record check is conducted for each individual identified on the Record Check Authorization. If a criminal or an abuse background is found that would disqualify the applicant from being a provider in accordance with Licensing regulations, the regulatory problem will be used to deny the application.
The majority of the background checks are performed by Licensing staff for persons are child care providers or associated with them. These persons include not only the provider staff, but also the persons living in the homes of registered and LECC providers when care is rendered in the provider's home.
The authorization for, and performance of, record checks are governed by Licensing and Subsidy Regulations. There are four times in which a record check is initiated for child care providers and their staff or household members. These record checks are performed by licensing staff.

The Subsidy staff handles record checks for informal transportation providers. Individual Transportation Providers are defined as persons providing transportation for child care clients, but who are not part of a formal transportation contract. The people performing this service through a formal contract are covered under the Transportation Provider's contract and individual records checks are not performed by CDD for the contractor's staff.
