Registered Program

Family Child Care Home registration is for persons seeking to care for children only in the home in which they live.  A person can become registered even if he/she cares for only one child.  Registered Family Child Care homes may have six children of any age, including up to two children under the age of two per caregiver.  These children may be replaced when their stay ends. In addition, the registered home can have four school-age children, not to exceed 4 hours per child. These children may not be replaced by other school-age children when their stay ends. These children may be in care on a full-day basis under certain circumstances.  Approximately 1,450 family child care home providers serve over 20,000 children annually.  Currently, 28 family child care home providers have a CDA credential.  This section describes the process for Registered Program Applications and the objects within Bright Futures that support this process.

The Registered Application process is initiated by the Application for Family Child Care Home Registration, submitted either on a paper form (where it is completed by a Licensing Technician) or over the Internet (where it is completed by a Provider).  This application is accompanied by a Record Check Authorization.  For a new application, the record check authorization must be received in hard copy with a live signature.

The Internet version will be accompanied by section-by-section instructions for the Registered Application.  In addition, the Internet site will provide a description of the Registered program process, a copy of the complete application in PDF format, and instructions for completing the application.  As part of the Application, the applicant will be asked if they would like to become an eProvider, and send licensing forms and communications from the web site.  The system ensures that all required information for the Application is provided before permitting it to be submitted to the CDD Licensing Unit.  Upon completion and submission of the Application, it is Worklisted to a Licensing Technician for validation.  In addition, the Case number is assigned by the system and the number is displayed for the provider for use in submission of the hard copy Record Check Authorization.  The Case is open and the License is in an "Applicant" status.
